Job summary

Alignerr is seeking a Chinese Language Expert (AI Training) to help evaluate and improve AI systems for language learning. This remote hourly contract plays a pivotal role in shaping how AI understands, assesses, and communicates in Chinese for millions of learners.

You will work asynchronously at least 15 hours per week, contributing linguistic insight and teaching experience to ensure accuracy, naturalness, and pedagogical value across CEFR levels from Pre-A1 to B2+.

Qualifications

• Must have native-level Chinese proficiency.
• Experience teaching Chinese or evaluating learner language.
• English proficiency at C1/C2 level.
• Familiar with CEFR frameworks for language levels.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate AI-generated Chinese speech and text for linguistic accuracy, naturalness, and educational quality.
• Assess learner speech and writing across proficiency levels from CEFR Pre-A1 through B2+.
• Apply expert judgment to identify learner errors, unnatural phrasing, and pedagogical gaps.
• Suggest improvements for clear, idiomatic, and pedagogically sound Chinese.
• Provide structured feedback that directly improves AI tutoring and language-learning models.
• Collaborate asynchronously with project leads and fellow language experts.

Who You Are

• Native-level proficiency in Chinese
• Experience teaching Chinese or evaluating learner language
• Fluent in English (C1/C2 level)
• Familiar with learner speech patterns and CEFR frameworks
• Enrolled in or completed a Bachelor's degree or higher
• Strong attention to detail and consistency in linguistic judgment
• No prior AI experience required

Nice to Have

• Experience with language assessment, curriculum design, or standardized testing
• Exposure to AI-powered language tools or educational technology
• Comfort working independently in structured, asynchronous workflows
