Job summary

Intact Lab in Hong Kong seeks AI/ML developers to join a dynamic team shaping the future of insurance technology. You will work with data scientists and engineers to embed machine learning into practical software solutions, while navigating ambiguity and trade-offs to deliver value.

You’ll collaborate across HK and Canada, grow technical and leadership skills, and contribute to an environment that values curiosity and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, AI or related discipline.
• Proficient in Python or similar languages; internship or full-time software development experience welcomed.
• Familiar with software engineering practices, design patterns, development lifecycle, Git/Jira/Confluence.

Responsibilities

• Work with data scientists to build ML and advanced statistics into software applications.
• Navigate ambiguity and align designs with clear objectives and trade-offs.
• Explore new technologies to improve developer experience and engineering processes.
• Collaborate with HK & Canada teams to share knowledge and results.
• Create, test, and deploy well-designed, efficient code.

As a tech pioneer in our AI lab, you’ll have the opportunity to:

• Work with data scientist to build machine learning and advanced statistics into software applications for real-life customer and business problems
• Navigate differing opinions, ambiguity, and requirements to build and advocate designs with clear objectives and trade-offs
• Explore new technologies to improve developer experience and engineering process
• Grow alongside a diverse team of world-class experts in data science, software engineering, actuarial science, business, and design

Here’s what you bring to the table:

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, AI or a related discipline
• Knowledge of Python or other language
• Internship or full-time experience in software development, we are open to early career to senior candidates
• Knowledge of software engineering practices such as design patterns, knowledge of the development cycle and other tools such as Git, Jira, Confluence, …
• The commitment to be a great, collaborative teammate
• Unlimited curiosity and a passion to challenge the status quo
• Ability to focus on vaguely defined issues requiring the application of a creative approach
• Strong communication, time management and work organization skills
• If you don’t have experience in the AI field, a strong motivation to learn this new and exciting field

Some nice-to-haves:

• Frontend experience with React framework, Typescript, async handling & state management tool
• Experience with machine learning and scientific computing libraries such as scikit-learn, NumPy, SciPy, Tensorflow, etc.
• Knowledge of DevOps modern tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, ELK
• Knowledge of the development technologies such as MongoDB, Kafka
• Experience developing data and machine learning pipelines
