Job summary
A consultancy in finance based in Truro is seeking an Assistant Accountant for a newly created part-time role. This position involves producing management accounts, providing financial intelligence, and mentoring junior team members. Strong MS Excel skills are essential, and the role includes the flexibility of hybrid working arrangements. Candidates should have relevant experience in a management accounting capacity or as an Assistant Accountant.
Qualifications

Responsibilities
- Produce monthly and quarterly management accounts for senior management.
- Provide key financial intelligence for financial analysis and budgeting.
- Lead control account reconciliations and assist in annual audits.

Trial Balance Consulting have been exclusively reengaged by a long standing client operating in the leisure and hospitality sector. The company have tasked us with sourcing an experienced Assistant Accountant to join their finance team in a newly created role. The position is offered on a permanent contract and with part time working hours circa 30 hours per week, to be split between the company headquarters in Truro and with a hybrid working option if required.
- Production of monthly and quarterly management accounts with accompanying commentary for the senior management team.
- Provide senior management team with key financial intelligence to assist in ongoing projects, financial analysis, and budget/target reporting.
- Commentating monthly financial reporting pack data to financial and non-financial department leaders.
- Take a lead role in control account reconciliations, prepayments, accruals and recharges.
- Provide assistance and support for quarterly reviews and annual budgets.
- Identify areas for improving financial performance of specific divisions of the business.
- Assisting budgeting and business planning.
- Assist in preparing for annual audit.
- Mentor and develop junior members of the team.
- Assist the CFO with ongoing and ad-hoc business projects and costings.
- Experienced candidate, either operating in a management accounting capacity or as an Assistant Accountant.
- Excellent all round IT aptitude, with a strong emphasis on MS Excel (Macros, V Lookups, Pivot Tables, etc.).
- Excellent MS Excel skills are essential; the role is data driven and requires a high level of proficiency.
- Previous experience in a multi-income-stream services environment would be advantageous though not essential.
- Candidates may be part/fully professionally or AAT qualified, or qualified by experience.
- Strong communication skills; this role regularly liaises with colleagues in all departments.
