Job description

Role Summary

The Research and Innovation Department are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to undertake the role of the Clinical Research Team Leader. We are seeking applications from individuals with significant relevant experience in the delivery of (predominantly) NIHR adopted studies who can demonstrate professional leadership qualities, an in-depth knowledge of research processes and a good understanding of research governance and the research landscape within an NHS environment. There are many opportunities ahead which we expect the successful candidate to be a key part of the delivery and leadership on. Having recently opened a dedicated out-patient facility CRU (Clinical Research Unit) and taken ownership of a Mobile Research Unit (MRU) we have the ambition to extend opportunities for our patients and general local population to access research opportunities to participate in research and health benefits at, and beyond our secondary care physical locations in line with the government’s national plan and NIHR priority areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Alongside line management duties, the successful candidate will contribute to the successful running of the R&I department as a whole and will be involved in decision making around research governance, business & performance, and finance.
  • Negotiate and liaise with the clinical teams regarding research engagement and involvement at all levels, providing support and guidance to Principal Investigators, Chief Investigators and the wider MDT.
  • Spot positive opportunities for the R&I department to expand its portfolio and improve its performance.
  • Positively contribute towards annual events such as International Clinical Trials' Day and additional promotional activity locally, regionally and nationally utilising local networks and social/digital platforms.
  • Liaise with senior nurses, midwives and managers to ensure adherence to organisational policies and procedures and engage and build positive working relationships with external stakeholders with a particular focus on Life Science/Industry partnerships.
  • Support the involvement and feedback from both the public and research participants to ensure that we provide the best care and best experience possible.
Qualifications
  • Significant relevant experience in the delivery of NIHR adopted studies.
  • Demonstrated professional leadership qualities.
  • In-depth knowledge of research processes and research governance.
  • Good understanding of the research landscape within an NHS environment.
