Job description

Gloucestershire College (GC) is recruiting a lecturer to deliver Psychology in our highly successful Access to HE provision - Humanities Pathway.

The purpose of this role is to deliver Psychology to a committed and enthusiastic group of adult students who wish to progress to Higher Education. Student satisfaction is approaching 100% and our students progress onto a range of courses including allied healthcare and to a variety of Higher Education Institutes throughout the UK including Russell Group universities.

The role will also involve the required standardisation and administrative tasks associated with this qualification.

Our Access to Higher Education department provides a pathway for adult learners and those without traditional qualifications to progress to university-level education. The department offers focused courses designed to prepare students for the academic rigors of higher education. Students develop key skills such as critical thinking, academic writing, research, and time management.

This course is aimed at individuals who may have been out of formal education for some time or who did not have the opportunity to complete traditional academic qualifications. Students select one of three pathways: Health and Human Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Science.

The department also provides additional support, including tutoring, guidance on university applications, career advice, and personal development. By creating a supportive learning environment, the Access to HE department plays a crucial role in helping students build the confidence and skills they need to succeed in higher education and beyond.

Our Access to HE department is based at our Cheltenham campus and can offer a level of flexibility in terms of hours and days. The role is predominantly campus based due to lesson delivery.
