Job description

The z/OS Systems Programmer role requires technical, domain-level, and specialist skills to ensure the operation, maintenance, and continuous upgrade of engineering services as technology evolves.

The position may involve multiple functions across various products and technologies, including programming, environmental support, and creating technical design solutions. The candidate may specialize in one or more of these areas and will oversee deployment, planning, configuration, and testing.

Key Skills

• Upgrading, maintaining, and supporting the z/OS operating system
• Supporting ISV products from vendors like IBM and Computer Associates (CA)
• Production support experience
• Extensive mainframe systems programming experience
• Knowledge of z/OS, SMP/E, TSO/ISPF, USS, SDSF, JCL
• Familiarity with IBM and CA products; ability to work independently
• Strong problem-solving skills and teamwork
• Availability for off-hours support and participation in on-call rotations
• Ability to set and achieve challenging goals, exceeding standards
• Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex information effectively
• Building effective networks and relationships across business areas
• Experience in creating and deploying comprehensive business/operating plans
• Understanding of risk management and regulatory compliance
