Job description

Youth Workers

Specialist Provisions in the Blackburn area are looking to hire youth workers to support their pupils. The roles are needed due to high demand for additional support within the schools. The pupils all have Social Emotional Mental Health and an EHC plan, so require additional support both in their educational and holistic development. Some of the pupils may display challenging behaviours, so the ability to deal with challenging situations in a calm and professional manner is paramount within these provisions.

Your role is to promote good behaviours and to be a role model for the pupils, whilst ensuring they are fully supported and their needs are being met daily. You may be required to work with pupils on a 1:1, small group, or general whole class basis depending on the needs of the school.

Key information

  • Full-time role, Monday to Wednesday (8:00am – 3:20pm), Thursday (8:00am – 4:00pm) and Friday (8:00am – 2:30pm).
  • Long-term supply position.
  • Competitive rate of hourly pay £13.75 - £14.50 p/h
  • No school experience required but it is desirable.

Requirements

  • Worked as a youth / care / support worker.
  • Experience dealing with challenging behaviours and situations is desirable.
  • Have full availability for the duration of the role.
  • Be able to work full-time Monday to Friday.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
