Oxfordshire County Council has an exciting opportunity for highly motivated people to join our busy Targeted Youth Support Service as Youth Workers.

An exciting new opportunity to join the Targeted Youth Support Service at Oxfordshire County Council, contributing to young people’s positive social and emotional development.

About us

The team works closely as part of the wider Youth Development Offer, supporting colleagues with the delivery of our schools, community, and detached programmes. You will work with young people in one-to-one meetings and group work, as well as within local communities. You will also collaborate with colleagues at the Council and externally to assess the current needs of young people and deliver positive outcomes.

The successful candidate will engage with a variety of young people, utilizing your expertise in youth engagement and intervention activities.

About the role
  • Deliver a key role in the Targeted Youth Support Service, implementing our schools, community, and detached programmes through one-to-one and group work with young people and working within local communities and across sectors.
  • Build collaborative links within schools and local communities to achieve joint outcomes.
  • Deliver creative, targeted support programmes to at-risk young people and advocate for them where appropriate.
  • Ensure timely guidance and interventions support the social and emotional development of young people, in line with council thresholds.
  • Collaborate with teams such as Locality Community Support Service, Family Help, Youth Justice and Exploitation, Family Solutions, contributing to young people's support plans as needed.
Job Purpose
  • Support the delivery of youth programmes, working in partnership with internal and external stakeholders to meet the needs of young people and achieve positive outcomes.
  • Strengthen links within schools and communities to facilitate joint outcomes.
  • Provide targeted support and advocacy for young people at risk.
  • Implement guidance and interventions supporting social and emotional development.
  • Work alongside various teams to support young people's needs through tailored support plans.
Special Requirements
  • Satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
  • Ability to travel to various premises with ease.
  • Commitment to inter-agency and partnership working.
  • Commitment to whole family working.
  • Flexibility in working arrangements, locations, and hours to meet operational needs.
About you

We seek a well-organized, enthusiastic, and motivated youth worker to deliver innovative, targeted youth services across Oxfordshire. You will work with young people facing difficulties through youth sessions in schools and communities, detached work, and one-to-one support. Your experience should include working with young people, advocating on their behalf, and attending multi-agency meetings to ensure the best outcomes.
