Overview

Youth Worker - Learning Support Assistant in Basildon, Essex. This role supports young people who need additional support with their social, emotional and mental health (SEMH).

Responsibilities
  • Support pupils aged 5-11 with a range of needs associated with SEN, in a school setting.
  • Work in classes of 4-6 pupils with a staff to student ratio of 1:1.
  • Contribute to a restorative, therapeutic approach to education and behaviour management.
  • Assist with academic, social and emotional development both in the classroom and in day-to-day life.
  • Adhere to safeguarding and child protection requirements and complete safer recruitment checks including an enhanced DBS via the update service.
Qualifications and requirements
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Aspiring to work as a youth worker or youth counsellor; interest in working with young people with SEN and SEMH.
  • Eligible for a full-time, long-term role with a view to permanent.
  • Capacity to satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including an enhanced DBS.
