Job summary

Oldham Council is seeking a dedicated Youth Worker to strengthen youth provision across the borough. You will deliver engaging youth work in communities, supporting young people aged 11-19 and helping to expand sessions to ensure every young person has access to a safe, positive space.

You will work flexible evenings and weekends, build strong relationships with young people, and contribute to local safety initiatives while promoting opportunities for healthier, more fulfilled lives in Oldham.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with young people aged 11-19 years.
  • Ability to build professional relationships with young people.
  • Willing to work evenings and weekends as required.

Role Overview:

Are you passionate about empowering young people and building stronger, safer communities? We are looking for a dynamic, relatable Youth Worker to join our team and help expand our youth offer across the borough.

Demand for local youth provision is higher than ever. In this role, you’ll step right into the heart of our community safety initiativeshelping us lift capacity caps, open up more sessions, and ensure no young person is turned away from a safe, positive space.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver high quality youth work in communities across Oldham, aiming to meet the identified needs of young people.
  • Be involved with the planning and delivery high quality youth work for young people in a variety of settings, using a variety of youth work methods.
  • Support young people in the planning and delivery of projects that will challenge, stimulate and provide new learning opportunities.
  • Work evenings and weekends including Friday and Saturday evenings.
Key Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will be able to:

  • Have some experience of working with young people aged 11-19 years.
  • Have the ability to build and maintain professional working relationships with young people.
  • Be prepared to work evenings and weekends as required.
