Job description

The Youth Violence Intervention Practitioner role is to be part of the youth work team within Redthread, focusing on youth violence interventions in a healthcare setting. You will support young people aged 11-25 years old who present to hospital following incidents of violence, especially those with concerns around exploitation or extra-familial harm. Responsibilities include:

  1. Managing a caseload and working with young people in various settings, including A&E, wards, and in the community, promoting their development.
  2. Contributing to the development of the service model to maximize benefits for clients.
  3. Maintaining accurate and secure records in line with GDPR, Data Protection Act, and policies, including database entries on Threads.
  4. Collecting evidence of outcomes and achievements for monitoring and reporting.
  5. Keeping informed on issues related to youth violence and Child Exploitation.
  6. Developing skills under the guidance of the Team Leader.
  7. Designing and implementing engaging programmes of events and interventions.
  8. Networking with other organizations serving young people to enhance service provision and referrals.
Qualifications and Experience

Essential Experience:

  • Significant experience working with vulnerable young people in diverse settings.
  • Experience working effectively within a team and autonomously.

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of young people's developmental needs and issues faced in inner-city areas.
  • Knowledge of child protection, safeguarding, and best practices in youth work.

Skills:

  • Resilience and reflection skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to plan workload and maintain accurate records.
  • Proficiency with IT systems.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • A degree in social work, youth work, social sciences, education, or relevant fields.
