Job summary

A leading health service provider in Rochdale is looking for a full-time youth support worker to assist children facing mental health challenges. You will work closely with families, participate in assessments, and provide interventions. The role includes supervision and various training opportunities to enhance professional skills. Ideal candidates will have experience in youth work, emotional well-being support, and a relevant diploma or degree. Salary ranges from £27,485 to £30,162 pro rata per annum.

We are looking to recruit a youth support worker to join our vibrant, welcoming and busy #Thrive team. This is a full-time role working with children and families presenting with a range of mental health challenges, and the post offers a breadth of opportunities for you to develop your skills in working with young people. There will be lots of opportunities to work individually and within groups and both independently and alongside other key professionals within the team. We offer a robust supervision structure and development opportunities in terms of psychological therapies training within the trust and opportunities to access specialist training in line with your own and the team's needs.

Children's mental health and emotional well-being is a key priority locally andRochdalebenefits from strong multi-agency networks and creative approaches to service delivery. Nationally recognised service, #Thrive providing a broad spectrum of emotional well-being support to children and families. Other CAMHS-linked services in place include our Perinatal service, Your Trust and the Mental Health Support Team, with other projects also in development.

Main duties of the job

• Contribute to the community based assessment as well as provide Intervention to young people and their families
• Support families to offer intervention and care under supervision of mental health practitioners or other #Thrive colleagues
• Developing ongoing relationships with children and families to promote recovery and resilience.
• Work intensively with children, young people and those who care for them under supervision of senior staff
• To assist members of the multi-disciplinary team as required, in the delivery of interventions on an individual and group

Job responsibilities

To contribute to the assessments and interventions of young people requiring support for their mental health aged up to 19 years of age in the Heywood, Middleton, Rochdale and Pennines areas.

To promote and safeguard the wellbeing of children and young people of the borough

To provide a thrive aligned support package and ensure safe transition in and out of service

To work with other professionals to ensure a holistic, needs led package of support which focusses on successes and goal-based outcomes

Person Specification

Education

• Diploma in youth work or community, youth work or child and adolescent mental health
• BA in Youth work or Youth and community work

Experience

• Experience of working with children, young people (CYP) and/or families in varied contexts
• Experience of offering advice and support to CYP and families.
• Experience of family work/ group work
• Experience of working with other agencies
• Experience of working autonomously and managing own workload
• Experience of supporting and working as part of a team
• Experience of working with IT systems
• Experience of multidisciplinary working in mental health care with complex cases
• Presentation/ teaching and training skills in mental health
• Experience of working in a child and adolescent mental health setting

Knowledge

• Awareness and understanding of mental health and emotional problems including self-harm and suicide
