Job summary

Change Grow Live in Gateshead is seeking a dynamic Young Person Resilience Worker to engage young people who use substances, deliver assessment, harm reduction and treatment interventions, and run targeted small-group sessions on drug and alcohol awareness, education and prevention.

You will also engage with young people at community events, provide training for professionals and families, and benefit from extensive training and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with young people.
• Knowledge of safeguarding concerns in relation to children and young people.
• Excellent understanding of drug and alcohol issues.
• Accomplished written and verbal communication skills and IT competency.
• Knowledge of evidence-based practice around young people’s substance misuse treatment services.
• Commitment to multi-agency working and partnerships.
• Excellent team working and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Engage young people who are using substances and provide advice, support and structured interventions to support their health and wellbeing needs.
• Provide screening, assessment, psychosocial interventions, integrated care planning, post treatment support, including transfer of care.
• Identify and respond effectively to potential safeguarding issues.
• Reduce drug and alcohol related harm to young people and the wider community.
• Promote carer, service user and community involvement.
• Carry out comprehensive young people's assessments and develop individual care plans addressing substance use goals.
• Work with young people to support positive health outcomes and resilience.
• Support and provide advocacy by participating in multi-agency meetings (e.g., Child Protection meetings).
• Network and attend community events.
• Develop and deliver workshops and training for young people, professionals and others.
