Job summary

Action for Children in Balerno (Edinburgh) is seeking Residential Support Workers to join our brand-new Al‑Rahman House. You’ll support one young person aged 16 in home and community settings, working with health professionals and behaviour support specialists to ensure the best possible care.

You’ll help the young person build independence and confidence, encourage positive choices, and create a calm, safe space.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a care setting and ability to build trusting relationships.
  • Good communication with young people, families and professionals.
  • Solution-focused approach to problems.
  • Patience, resilience and calm under pressure.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or willingness to complete within 2 years.

Responsibilities

  • Lead case/care planning management, including risk assessment.
  • Coordinate within the service and produce reports for multi‑agency work.
  • Attend professional meetings including reviews and court work.
  • Support young people in daily living activities.
  • Engage effectively with young people, colleagues and professionals.
