Interviews: Interviews will take place during the week commencing Monday 28th July and will follow a two-stage process: Stage one will be a formal interview with members of the Baytree staff team. Stage two will involve an interview with a group of Baytree girls and young women, including the delivery of a short activity of your choice.

The Baytree Centre is a women and girls’ social inclusion charity based in Brixton, supporting those from some of the most disadvantaged areas in Lambeth. Rooted in Catholic Social Teaching and shaped by local needs, our programmes span skills development, mentoring, welfare support, and creative and academic activities — all designed to build confidence, raise aspirations, and improve life chances.

Our work is driven by a dedicated team of 30 staff and supported by a vibrant community of committed volunteers. Each year, our Youth Service engages around 500 girls aged 5 to 19 through holistic, empowering programmes.

We’re looking for a motivated, innovative, and compassionate individual to join our Youth Service team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with young people, a collaborative approach, and a strong alignment with Baytree’s values. Purpose of the Role

The Youth Programme Co-ordinator will play a key role in the planning, delivery, coordination, and evaluation of Baytree’s holistic youth offer. This includes our academic, wellbeing, life skills, employability, mentoring and integration support programmes.

You will support the organisation and implementation of afterschool clubs and holiday activities, oversee youth-led initiatives such as the Youth Council, and help embed youth voice and participation across the wider service. You will build positive relationships with girls and young women, acting as a trusted adult and role model who supports their personal, social, and educational growth.

You will work collaboratively within a dedicated and supportive team to ensure our programmes are inclusive, safe, and engaging, generating an environment where girls feel welcomed, valued and able to thrive. You will help create a nurturing culture through consistent reinforcement of positive behaviour, strong safeguarding practice, and a trauma-informed approach.

You will also play a key role in supporting volunteers, maintaining communication with families and partners, and contributing to programme monitoring, evaluation and improvement. All duties should be carried out in alignment with the Baytree Centre’s values and commitment to inclusion, dignity, and the empowerment of women and girls. You may also be asked to carry out other duties as reasonably required.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Safeguarding and Compliance

• Promote a strong safeguarding culture and uphold Baytree’s policies.
• Support compliance with external quality standards (e.g. London Youth, Matrix).
• Maintain enhanced DBS certification and attend training, supervision, and team meetings.
• Set a positive example in conduct and professionalism.

Programme Coordination

• Coordinate delivery across youth programmes: academic support, life skills, wellbeing, employability, mentoring, and integration.
• Ensure sessions are inclusive, trauma-informed, and responsive to girls' needs.
• Communicate with participants, families, and volunteers; support planning and delivery.
• Supervise and support volunteers and maintain high programme quality.

Holiday Activities & Trips

• Plan and deliver engaging holiday activities and trips.
• Handle logistics: bookings, consents, risk assessments, and parent communication.
• Gather feedback and support evaluation.

Youth Participation & Leadership

• Coordinate the Youth Council and champion youth-led initiatives.
• Facilitate leadership opportunities through volunteering and peer support.

Onboarding & Relationship Management

• Conduct assessments and onboarding for new participants.
• Maintain accurate records and build strong relationships with girls and families.
• Offer a supportive and welcoming presence.

Volunteer Engagement

• Support training, supervision, and rota coordination for volunteers and interns.
• Foster a collaborative and inclusive volunteer environment.

Monitoring & Evaluation

• Record attendance and impact data; support surveys and feedback collection.
• Contribute to internal and funder reports and ongoing service improvement.

General Duties

• Manage resources and support programme outreach and events.
• Collaborate across teams and contribute to a positive organisational culture.

Qualifications

• Level 2 or 3 qualification, or diploma in Youth Work Practice (desirable)
