Are you a recent graduate or an experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for mental health? Are you thinking about pursuing a career as a therapist or psychologist, but looking to gain more experience first? This role could be the perfect opportunity for you to develop your skills and gain valuable insights in the mental health field.

Academics Ltd is working with a specialist school in Gloucester that provides tailored support for children aged 5 to 18 with a range of mental, emotional and social needs. The school is looking for a proactive Youth Mental Health Support Worker to join their team, providing an excellent opportunity to work alongside qualified specialists, including psychologists.

Key Details:
  1. Youth Mental Health Support Worker
  2. Location: Gloucester
  3. Specialization: Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Specialist School
  4. Salary: £80-£95 per day (Depending on experience and qualifications)
  5. Type: Long Term Temporary with the opportunity to be made permanent
  6. Hours: 8:30am-3:30pm
  7. Start Date: ASAP
  8. Clear DBS (Or willingness to apply)
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Offer emotional and mental health support to students with various needs.
  2. Provide tailored interventions to promote academic and emotional growth.
  3. Use coping strategies to help manage stress, anxiety, and school avoidance.
  4. Work with educators and specialists to ensure personalised support.
  5. Apply restorative practices to create a safe, inclusive environment for all students.
  6. Work on a 1:1 basis with children who face behavioural challenges, sensory issues, and communication difficulties.

The Youth Mental Health Support Worker role is perfect for individuals with a degree in Psychology who are looking to kick-start their career in SEN. Relevant experience working with children with SEN, along with additional level 3 qualifications, is highly valued.
