A leading organization seeks Social Workers or experienced Youth Workers to support complex children aged 10 to 17 years involved in the criminal justice system. The role involves direct work with children and families to prevent re-offending, improve relationships, and facilitate reintegration into the community. The ideal candidate will possess a Social Work Degree or equivalent and have experience in a similar caring role. Hampshire County Council are seeking Social Workers or experienced Youth Workers
Do you have experience of working with complex children and families?
We need you to work with complex children aged 10 to 17 years who have found their way into the criminal justice system. Hold cases and work directly with the children and their families to prevent re-offending, help improve their relationships, school attendance and support parents. Liaise with other agencies to affect the best outcome possible for the child and to enable them to move forward, not to re-offend and to help to re-integrate them back into the community to which they belong.
Key roles and responsibilities:
Undertake direct work with children and young people (and their families) who are either sentenced by the Court or who are the subject of an Out of Court Disposal.
Deliver intervention programmes both within 1 to 1 work and group settings.
To assist in the authoring of Risk Assessments and reports as appropriate.
Undertake role of duty Court Officer where appropriate.
Cover for absent colleagues where required.
Maintain accurate records on Capita One YJ and on ICS, including assessments, plans, meetings, interventions, reviews and outcomes for court appearances.
Obtain feedback from children, young people and families.
Complete reports on cases, as required.
Attend multi-agency meetings and partnership networking events, as appropriate.
Attend Saturday court on a rota basisQualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Essential:
Social Work Degree or NVQ level 3 Equivalent
IT skills, including experience of Microsoft Office programmes Word and Excel.
Ability to communicate with a wide range of people, in a wide range of situations and build effective working relationships.
Ability to work in an inclusive and non-discriminatory manner.
Mediation and negotiation skills.
Ability to present information effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to construct coherent reports.
Ability to liaise effectively with other professionals/organisations.
Contribute to assessments as directed.
Experience of working with children, young people and families in a helping or caring capacity.
Experience of providing services to children and / or families with complex needs.
Able to meet the travel requirements of the role.Desirable:
Knowledge of child development.
Commitment to personal development; through education, training short courses.
Experience of working with children and young people who have experienced trauma or loss.
Experience of dealing effectively with difficult inter-personal situations.
An understanding of the impact of social deprivation and disadvantage in children, young people and their families.Working Conditions in this role will or may include:
Use of display screen equipment.
Working with children. Lone Working.
Requirement of the YOT officer role is also to fulfil the Saturday Court Officer role - you will be added to the team rota for Saturday court duty.
The role holder is required to travel to various locations within Hampshire, and it is essential you have a current driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle on a regular basis and which is insured for business use.About Us
