Overview

Are you passionate about supporting young people and building a stronger, more connected community?

Do you enjoy working with volunteers, bringing people together, and creating a welcoming space for everyone?

About the Role

We're looking for an energetic, caring, and organised Youth & Community Engagement Officer to join our team at The Hub - a local youth charity dedicated to empowering young people and fostering community spirit.

You'll work in our friendly community café, supporting volunteers to provide a warm, safe, and inclusive space for young people and local residents. You'll also help plan and deliver our youth club sessions and community activities - everything from art workshops and games nights to social action projects and fundraising events.

This is a hands-on role that blends café coordination, youth engagement, and community development. No two days are the same, and your work will make a real difference in young people's lives.

About You

We're looking for someone who:

  • Enjoys working with young people and has a genuine interest in their wellbeing and development.
  • Can motivate and support volunteers from all walks of life.
  • Has experience in a café, youth work, or community setting.
  • Is friendly, organised, and able to juggle different tasks with a smile.
  • Can bring creativity and enthusiasm to help our café and youth activities thrive.

You'll also need to be flexible, reliable, and happy to work some evenings and weekends for youth sessions and community events.

What We Offer
  • A supportive and welcoming team environment.
  • Opportunities for training and personal development.
  • The chance to make a lasting impact in your community.
  • A role full of variety, creativity, and purpose.

You will be supported by the Town Clerk and Newport Town Council officers and will work closely with the Café Manager and the volunteers at the Community Café.
