Description of Job

We believe this is a brilliant opportunity for the right candidate! Joining the team at Christ Church Stannington means becoming part of a church with a growing youth and kids ministry, a committed team, and a desire to go deeper in discipleship and further in mission. In 2023, Christ Church received a ‘graft’ (a group of 35 adults and children) from St Thomas Crookes to boost the mission and ministry in Stannington, and since then, God has been at work in many ways.

Our mission and ministry have grown significantly, and we now need a Youth and Kids Leader to help us continue this growth in depth and breadth. This position is partnered with the Diocese of Sheffield’s ‘Centenary Project’, which provides support for many other youth and/or kids workers.

You will lead and develop a team of volunteers, strengthen links with local schools, and be part of the Centenary Project Network.

General responsibilities:
  • To oversee, grow, and develop a team of volunteers, in partnership with the Oversight Minister and PCC, to engage and nurture youth, children, and their families in the life of the church and the wider community.
  • With the Oversight Minister, develop and implement a missional plan to make and grow disciples among youth, children, and families in Stannington.
  • To be a key part of the staff team, working closely with the Oversight Minister and others to keep youth and children’s ministry central to church life, contributing to a unified vision and strategy.
  • To develop relationships with local families and organizations, becoming a key connection point within the community.
  • To participate in the Centenary Project Network, an initiative of the Diocese of Sheffield.

Given the nature of this work, it is an occupational requirement that the post holder be a communicant member of the Church of England or a full member of a church within Churches Together in Britain and Ireland.
