Job Introduction

We are currently recruiting for a Young Person’s Advanced Recovery Practitioner to work in our Leicestershire and Rutland Substance Use Service. For this role you will have either significant experience working in substance use services or a related field in health and social care plus experience of working with young people and/or a relevant qualification such as social work or nursing.You will hold a defined caseload of service users with multiple needs and have, or be willing to develop, a specialism within the team.You will provide learning opportunities and act as a point of expertise within your team, sometimes leading multi-disciplinary discussions to support planning, and be capable of representing the service in external meetings to improve pathways withpartner agencies.Whilst not a line management position Advanced Recovery Practitioners will form part of the leadership of the team and be key to supporting specific clients with complex needs and workers, particularly those new to the field.

Working within our Young People’s Team the key focus areas will be:

  • Managing a caseload of complex young people with substance use issues and also young people impacted by someone else’s substance use.
  • Quality liaison with young person’s services across Leicestershire and Rutland, maintaining excellent relationships with key partner agencies and extensive multiagency working.
  • Commitment to achieving targets related to increasing numbers in treatment and expanding the reach of the service.
  • Proactive engagement of service users to reduce the risks related to their substance use.

This post is advertised as based in Loughborough for administrative purposes only. The base will be negotiable.This post requires travel throughout Leicestershire and Rutland to our county hubs and also other locations to deliver services and networking.A driving licence and car access is essential, and you will be required to use your own car to travel between sites on a daily basis (expenses will be provided.)

As an Advanced Recovery Practitioner, we offer a startingsalary of £28,392 with annual pay progression up to £33,215 (Dependent on experience you may be offered a starting salary above the initial starting salary).

Main responsibilities

  • The post holder will provide one to one support with Recovery Workers, helping them to develop their practice and supporting them with day-to-day challenges of the role.
  • The post holder will complete a generic audit of a Recovery Worker case every month and discuss the outcomes, highlighting both good practice and areas for development.
  • The post holder will be responsible for case management of several of the most complex cases. This number may vary depending upon complexity and other responsibilities.
  • The post holder will take responsibility for building and maintaining positive relationships with partnering agencies.
  • The post holder will participate in regular MDTs to support other Recovery Workers and take guidance on treatment plans for service users.
  • The post holder will deputise for the Team Leader in their absence e.g., annual leave or conflicting commitments.
  • The post holder will engage in training and development opportunities as they arise in order to develop and maintain their leadership skills.
  • The post holder will chair MDT in the absence of the Team Leader and chair multi agency meetings when necessary.
  • Safeguarding: - The post holder will escalate any safeguarding concerns raised by Recovery Workers.
  • The post holder will engage in SALS meetings and discuss cases as required.

The Ideal candidate

  • Exceptional report writing and case notes
  • Demonstrable experience in working within a substance use treatment and recovery setting and working with young people.
  • Understanding of risk and risk management, as it applies to substance use and complexity.
  • Significant experience of working in health and social care
  • RMN; Social Work, psychology or other relevant qualification
