Job summary

Moxie People is seeking a Young Persons Support Worker for a 24-hour supported housing project in Carmarthen. This part-time role covers shifts including mornings, evenings, and weekends, with rota-based sleep-ins (11pm-7am) and additional payment per sleep-in. Salary is £25,877 per year, pro-rated for part-time hours.

You will support young people aged 16-25 with complex needs to gain life skills, rights, and independence through person-centred plans and collaborative teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting vulnerable individuals with complex needs.
  • Excellent communication and conflict de-escalation skills.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding protocols, GDPR, and professional boundaries.
  • Flexibility to cover mornings, evenings, weekends, and sleep-in duties.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use.

  • Person-Centred Support: conduct needs assessments, manage risk assessments, and deliver tailored, task-focused support plans.
  • Independence & resilience: assist tenancy management, budgeting, digital inclusion, and access to education or training.
  • Safeguarding & advocacy: promote self-advocacy, safeguard vulnerable adults and young people, and liaise with external services.
  • Collaborative working: join clear shift handovers, work with multi-agency networks, and maintain accurate records.
  • Positive impact: support life skills and emotional wellbeing.

Are you passionate about helping young people build independent, fulfilling futures? We are seeking a dedicated, empathetic, and adaptable Support Worker to join our dynamic team in a 24-hour supported housing project.

Working with young adults aged 16-25 who have complex needs-such as mental health challenges, substance use, or experiences of domestic abuse-you will deliver person-centred support that empowers individuals to develop key life skills, take control of their rights, and shape their own lives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Person-Centred Support: Conduct regular needs assessments, manage risk assessments, and deliver tailored, task-focused support plans.
  • Independence & Resilience: Assist young people with tenancy management, personal budgeting, digital inclusion, and accessing education or training opportunities.
  • Safeguarding & Advocacy: Promote self-advocacy, safeguard vulnerable adults and young people, and liaise with external health, legal, and community services.
  • Collaborative Working: Participate in clear shift handovers, work alongside multi-agency networks, and maintain accurate support records.
  • Positive Impact: Support clients with life skills, emotional wellbeing, and positive parenting where applicable.
What We Are Looking For
Essential Criteria:
  • Experience: Proven track record of supporting vulnerable individuals with complex needs (e.g., domestic abuse, mental health, substance use).
  • Skills: Excellent communication, conflict de-escalation, and team-working abilities, with proficiency in basic IT (MS Office/Teams).
  • Knowledge: Sound understanding of safeguarding protocols, GDPR, and maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Flexibility: Ability to cover mornings, evenings, weekends, and sleep-in duties.
  • Requirements: Good general education, full UK driving licence, and access to a vehicle for business use.
Desirable Criteria:
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Social Care, Housing, Youth Work, or a related field.
  • Training or awareness in trauma-informed practice, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), mental health support, or substance misuse.
  • Familiarity with tenancy sustainment, welfare benefits, and the Housing Support Grant framework.
