Platfform has been commissioned by Cardiff and the Vale University Health Board to deliver a new and innovative service for children and young people experiencing emotional distress. To do this, we have developed an early mental health support Hub which provides timely and out-of-hours support for children and young people aged 11-18. The Hangout is one part of the regional provision for children and young people’s mental health. The service provides a range of support and links in with other provisions delivered by partners (including Cardiff and the Vale University Health Board), local authorities, and third sector organisations to provide children and young people with the best possible experience.
There is a strong emphasis on developing this service alongside children and young people so that it understands and meets their needs. The service offers both one-to-one wellbeing support and group-based activities, including therapeutic interventions, social events, and community-led initiatives.
Platfform is seeking a Wellbeing Practitioner to support The Hangout's work by providing direct trauma-informed support to children and young people, and by delivering group sessions and activities/events.
We are looking for someone with a deep understanding of relationship-based practice, who can communicate, educate, coach, and support young people to improve their wellbeing.
Applicants should understand a trauma-informed approach, support emotional regulation, and provide both one-off and ongoing support and signposting during afternoons, evenings, and weekends for young people based in Cardiff and Barry in the Vale of Glamorgan.
You will work closely with the Hub Manager and the wider team of practitioners, receiving clinical supervision, guidance, and support from the team’s Assistant Psychologist.
This is an exciting opportunity to join Platfform as we continue to develop this service and realize the regional vision of quick, effective, and accessible wellbeing support for children and young people.
