Stepping Stone Projects in Manchester is hiring a Supported Housing Worker to support unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people. You’ll balance practical housing management with person-centred support to build independence and secure accommodation.
The role involves building trusting relationships, creating tailored support plans, helping access education and healthcare, and coordinating with partner agencies.
Chatsworth Grove Office Base (Manchester)
22.5 hours per week (Monday to Wednesday, 9am – 5pm)
As a Supported Housing Worker on Stepping Stone Projects’ Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC) Service, you'll play a vital role in helping young people build safe, independent and successful lives in the UK.
Working with young people who have arrived in the country without family support, you'll provide a combination of practical housing management and person-centred support. From helping young people understand their tenancy responsibilities, manage their accommodation and access education, training and healthcare, to building independence skills and supporting them through complex challenges, no two days are the same.
This is a rewarding role for someone who can combine empathy and practical support with effective housing management and tenancy-related responsibilities. You'll manage a caseload of young people, complete support plans and risk assessments, carry out property visits, work alongside partner agencies and help young people move towards greater independence and long-term housing stability.
You don't need to meet every requirement. Above all, we're looking for someone with the values, resilience and dedication to support young people to thrive. We're seeking someone who can build strong professional relationships and who is passionate about helping young people recognise and achieve their potential.
You may already have experience in supported housing, housing management, tenancy sustainment, homelessness services, refugee or asylum support, youth work, leaving care services, social care, education, or another customer-facing support environment.
The ideal candidate will understand how to balance practical housing responsibilities with person-centred support, helping young people develop the skills and confidence they need to live independently.
We would love to hear from you if you are able:
Please note that a full UK Drivers Licence and daily access to a reliable vehicle are mandatory requirements for this post.

This is a rewarding opportunity to be part of a dedicated team supporting unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people as they build safe, independent and positive futures. You'll have the opportunity to support young people as they adapt to a new environment, access education and services, and gain the skills needed for independent adult life. In return, you'll receive ongoing training, professional development and the support needed to make a meaningful difference every day.
