YJMO/433 P/T Personal Assistant in York YO19

Personal Assistants support people to live well. They provide the right support at the right time to help others to live their best lives. Is this you? Do you want a job that is rewarding and fulfilling?

The job:
This is a part time role to help a neuro-diverse adult with communication needs and support required to allow him to enjoy life and engage in social activities. He would like a companion to support him flexibly i.e. he may not always want to organise something.

The client would like to have a companion to accompany him to gym sessions, visits to the cinema, the museum or art exhibition at a gallery, anywhere in or out of the region. Support will also include accompanying him to doctor or dentist appointments, food shopping at the supermarket.

Support will also be required for socialising and hobbies such as training in book-cataloguing or library skills, research at the library on his interests that include local history, railway maps; or a day out to see a friend in another city such as Lincoln, Sheffield or Leeds using public transport such as train or bus. He will pay travel expenses if it involves public transport or entry tickets.

The client has a job coach provided by United Response/City of York Council but he also needs support to express his opinion about what the coach is suggesting.

The right person:
Experience and skills essential for this role include, patience, sociable/outgoing nature, kindness and knowledge of neurodiversity. No personal care support is required.

The hours:
An 8 hour shift per week. The 8 hour shift could vary week to week depending on the client’s needs. Most likely to be a Thursday or Friday.

The rates of pay and benefits:
£17 per hour.

You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday and the opportunity for training relevant to your role.
