Description

Summary At Gardiner & Theobald, PMO Analysts play an important role in supporting the successful delivery of construction, infrastructure and transformation programmes. Working within a Programme Management Office (PMO), they help establish and maintain governance processes, coordinate programme reporting, monitor performance and provide the information needed to support effective decision-making across projects and programmes.

Programme Management Office support is a key aspect of project delivery, helping organisations maintain control of scope, schedule, cost, risk and performance throughout the project lifecycle. Role Overview As a Year Out PMO Analyst, you will join the first year of the G&T Accelerate Programme, combining real project responsibility, expert mentoring and structured professional development within a specialist programme management and PMO environment. Based within our Programme Management team, you will gain practical experience supporting programme controls, governance, reporting and project management activities across a range of high-profile projects and programmes.

The role will be varied and the experience gained will depend on the team, client and sector you are working within.

Working within a team, you will assist your Line Manager with various aspects of PMO and programme management activities. You will be expected to work with a degree of autonomy whilst recognising when to seek guidance and support to achieve the best outcome.

You will develop a strong understanding of programme management, PMO governance, project controls, reporting and performance management, as well as the construction and infrastructure sectors and how these disciplines support successful project delivery.

General Responsibilities

  • Supporting the maintenance and administration of PMO governance processes, procedures and controls across projects and programmes.
  • Supporting the collection, management and analysis of project and programme data to identify trends, risks and performance issues.
  • Assisting with schedule management activities, including monitoring programme milestones, deliverables and key dates.
  • Assisting with cost management activities, including monitoring actual, committed and forecast spend against budgets.
  • Supporting project teams in maintaining accurate programme documentation, trackers and records.
  • Assisting with the management of risk, issue and change registers and supporting associated governance activities.
  • Supporting resource planning and programme controls activities through the maintenance of relevant data and reporting.
  • Assisting with governance reviews and helping ensure programme documentation complies with agreed standards and procedures.
  • Supporting the production of reports, presentations and analysis to inform client and stakeholder decision-making.
  • Assisting with the development of reporting tools and dashboards, including the use of Excel, Power BI and other analytical platforms where appropriate.
  • Liaising with project teams and stakeholders to gather information, updates and performance data.
  • Participating in programme, project and client meetings, recording actions and supporting follow-up activities.
  • Supporting the capture and communication of lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Building an understanding of programme governance, project controls methodologies and industry best practice.
  • Working closely with colleagues across the wider business to support successful programme and project outcomes.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent working knowledge of current IT systems and applications.
  • Ability to work effectively to deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Understanding of the importance of client care and professional relationships.
  • Trustworthy, reliable and professional in approach.
