Year-End Technical Accountant

Role: Year–End Technical Accountant

500 – 600/day (inside IR35 UMB)

6–month contract Hybrid (1–2 days in office)

Location: Flexible with occasional travel to the office (East Midlands–based)

Sellick Partnership is partnering with a local authority seeking an experienced Year–End Technical Accountant to support the finance team through a crucial period.

The Responsibilities of the Year–End Technical Accountant will be:

• Lead and support the preparation of year–end accounts
• Ensure accurate and timely production of working papers and financial statements
• Provide technical accounting advice and updates on relevant legislative changes
• Liaise with external auditors and respond to audit queries
• Assist in the closure of accounts and ensure full compliance with local government accounting standards
• Unpicking historic transactions in TechnologyOne
• Tackling issues around debtors and bank reconciliations
• Helping validate and cleanse financial data ahead of the new financial year.

The Ideal candidate for the Year–End Technical Accountant will have:

• Extensive year–end experience within a Local Government finance environment
• Fully Qualified Accountant
• Prior experience using TechnologyOne ERP system
• Strong understanding of local authority accounting requirements and regulations
• Confident in managing complex technical accounting queries.
