Job summary

Teaching Personnel is partnering with a friendly Altrincham primary school to recruit a Year 5 Teaching Assistant from September 2026. You will support a Year 5 class, work with pupils one-to-one and in small groups, and help pupils develop confidence and positive study habits.

Ideally you will hold a Teaching Assistant qualification or have relevant experience. The role offers competitive weekly pay, CPD opportunities, and ongoing consultant support within a safeguarding-focused school

The Role

As a Year 5 Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Support teaching and learning within a vibrant Year 5 classroom
• Work with pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small intervention groups
• Help children build confidence, independence, and positive learning behaviours
• Support pupils with SEND, EAL, and additional learning needs
• Assist the class teacher in maintaining a positive and engaging learning environment
• Contribute to classroom preparation, organisation, and behaviour management strategies
• Encourage pupils to achieve their academic and personal goals

About You

We're looking for someone who:

Has experience working with primary-aged children, ideally within a school setting

Is passionate about education and supporting young learners

Demonstrates patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach

Has excellent communication and teamwork skills

Is proactive, reliable, and enthusiastic about making a positive impact

Holds a Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant experience (desirable but not essential)
