Job summary

Humly North East is recruiting a full-time Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Sunderland, supporting a Year 4 class and helping pupils progress in reading, writing and maths. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a positive difference to children's learning, confidence and development.

You will work closely with the class teacher, support individuals and small groups, and help deliver catch-up activities and targeted interventions within an inclusive, friendly environment.

Qualifications

• Caring, patient and enthusiastic about working with children.
• Confident supporting pupils in a primary school environment.
• Able to build positive relationships with children and staff.
• Reliable, proactive and willing to get involved.
• Passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning.
• Able to work effectively as part of a team.
• No formal qualifications are required, although a Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable.
• Previous experience working with children or within a school setting would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the class teacher to support the Year 4 class.
• Provide support to pupils during lessons and classroom activities.
• Work with individual pupils and small groups where additional support is required.
• Help deliver catch-up activities and targeted interventions.
• Support children with their reading, writing, maths and wider learning.
• Encourage pupils to become more confident and independent learners.
• Help create a positive, engaging and inclusive classroom environment.
• Assist with classroom preparation and other general teaching assistant duties.
