Job description

This schoolis seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Year 2 Teacher to join a dedicated and nurturing team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact in a key stage of children's development as they progress through their primary education. Beginning September 2025.

You will be responsible for delivering engaging and inclusive lessons in line with the Key Stage 1 curriculum, ensuring all pupils are supported to achieve their full potential in a happy, safe, and stimulating learning environment.

Duties as a Year 2 Teacher:

Plan and deliver high-quality lessons across all core and foundation subjects in line with the Year 2 curriculum.

Assess and monitor pupil progress through formative and summative methods, including KS1 SATs.

Provide a nurturing and well-managed classroom environment that supports both learning and wellbeing.

Differentiate teaching to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with SEND, EAL, and higher ability learners.

Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents/carers.

Contribute to the wider life of the school, including assemblies, events, trips, and enrichment opportunities.

Maintain accurate records and contribute to pupil reports and parent consultations.

Uphold the school’s safeguarding, behaviour, and equality policies.

Engage in ongoing professional development and collaborative planning with colleagues.

Ideal Year 2 Teacher:

Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Have recent experience teaching in Key Stage 1, preferably Year 2.

Be knowledgeable about the KS1 curriculum, phonics (e.g. Little Wandle/Read Write Inc.), and assessment processes.

Demonstrate a caring, enthusiastic, and reflective approach to teaching and learning.

Be committed to achieving the best outcomes for all children.

Have excellent communication and classroom management skills as a Year 2 Teacher.

Work well both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
