Year 2/3 Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and proactive Teaching Assistant to support teaching and learning in our mixed Year 2/3 class at a great school. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a passionate team in a school where children are at the heart of everything we do. The position begins in September 2025.

Duties as a Year 2/3 Teaching Assistant:

1. Support the class teacher in delivering high-quality lessons and activities.
2. Work with small groups and individual pupils to reinforce learning and build confidence.
3. Provide targeted support for pupils with additional needs, including those with EHCPs.
4. Assist with phonics, reading, writing, and numeracy interventions.
5. Help prepare and organise learning materials, classroom resources, and displays.
6. Promote positive behaviour and support children's emotional wellbeing.
7. Supervise pupils during break/lunchtimes and transitions as needed.
8. Contribute to assessments and record-keeping as directed by the teacher.
9. Communicate effectively with staff and parents to support pupil progress.
10. Participate in school events, trips, and enrichment activities.

Ideal Candidate:

1. Has experience working with children in KS1 or lower KS2.
2. Holds a relevant TA qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3) – desirable but not essential.
3. Is confident supporting early reading, phonics, and basic maths.
4. Is patient, adaptable, and nurturing in approach.
5. Demonstrates good communication and teamwork skills.
6. Shows a genuine passion for helping children succeed and feel valued.
7. Is committed to safeguarding and the wider school ethos.
