Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a South Gloucestershire-based primary school as they are looking to appoint a motivated and reliable teaching assistant to support a male pupil within the year 1 class for the remainder of the academic year. This is a full-time temporary contract.

Your new role

As a teaching assistant within this school, you will be supporting a pupil within the year 1 class on a 1:1 basis. You will work alongside the class teacher to promote a stimulating, engaging and inclusive working environment for your pupils by adapting learning materials to best suit their needs. You will work with them and promote their learning and engagement by implementing a myriad of positive behaviour strategies including DOJO/reward charts, brain breaks, now & next and positive reinforcement. As well as promoting their behaviours, you will hold intervention and booster sessions in all core subjects to help bring them up to speed.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered in your application, you must have full 'Right to Work' in the UK as well as a minimum of 40 days referenceable experience supporting pupils between the ages of 4-11 within a classroom environment within the last 2 years, as well as:

  • Experience delivering intervention and booster sessions
  • Experience implementing positive behaviour strategies
  • Be able to commit to a long-term full-time contract
  • Having an NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not essential.
