Hays Recruitment is proud to support a Bristol-based primary school in appointing a motivated and reliable teaching assistant. This role involves supporting a male pupil in Year 1 for the remainder of the academic year. The position is full-time and temporary.
Your new role

As a teaching assistant, you will support a pupil on a 1:1 basis within the Year 1 class. You will collaborate with the class teacher to create a stimulating, engaging, and inclusive environment by adapting learning materials to meet the pupil's needs. Your responsibilities include promoting learning and engagement through positive behaviour strategies such as DOJO/reward charts, brain breaks, now & next, and positive reinforcement. Additionally, you will hold intervention and booster sessions across core subjects to support the pupil's progress.

What you'll need to succeed
  • Full "Right to Work" in the UK
  • At least 40 days of referenceable experience supporting pupils aged 4–11 in a classroom within the last 2 years
  • Experience delivering intervention and booster sessions
  • Experience implementing positive behaviour strategies
  • Ability to commit to a long-term, full-time contract
  • NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not essential
