Job description

Year 1 Teaching Assistant – Primary School in Enfield
Support, nurture, and help young learners thrive in Key Stage 1.

Protocol Education is working in partnership with a vibrant, inclusive primary school in Enfield to recruit a committed and skilled Year 1 Teaching Assistant. This full-time role starts in September 2025 and offers the opportunity to support children as they transition from Early Years into more structured learning.

Location: Enfield
Start Date: September 2025
Hours: Full-time, term time
Pay: £90–£95 per day (depending on experience)

The Role:

As a Year 1 Teaching Assistant, you'll play a key role in helping pupils settle into Key Stage 1—supporting their learning, routines, and confidence as they take the next step in their education. You’ll work closely with the class teacher to deliver engaging lessons and provide targeted support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with phonics, reading, and early writing and maths activities
  • Provide small group and 1:1 support to help children meet their learning goals
  • Encourage positive behaviour and engagement in the classroom
  • Support pupils with their social and emotional development
  • Help maintain a well-organised, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment

About You:

  • Experience working in KS1 or EYFS is essential
  • A Level 2 or Level 3 teaching assistant qualification is preferred
  • Confident delivering phonics support (Letters and Sounds, Read Write Inc, or similar)
  • Calm, encouraging, and proactive with strong communication skills
  • Thrive training is a bonus—but not required. (We offer free Thrive training to all Protocol Education staff.)
