Job summary

Step Teachers is seeking a Year 1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming Year 1 classroom for a full-time, long-term temporary role starting September 2026. You will support early literacy, numeracy and phonics, work with small groups and 1:1 interventions while helping to establish positive routines and safeguarding standards.

The ideal candidate will have KS1 experience with a calm, patient approach, strong communication and teamwork skills, and a commitment to pupil progress and welfare.

Qualifications

• KS1 experience in a Year 1 setting.
• SEND experience is beneficial.
• Calm, patient and nurturing approach to young learners.
• Confident delivering small-group and individual support.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Able to follow teacher direction and use initiative.

Responsibilities

• Provide full-time support in a Year 1 classroom.

Your salary – dependent on experience – is paid weekly through PAYE.
