Job description

Location: Wakefield, WF4

Contract: Full-time

Salary: 130-180 per day

Reports to: Headteacher/KS1 Coordinator

Role Overview

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Year 1 Teacher to create an engaging, supportive, and stimulating learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the KS1 curriculum.
  2. Support pupils’ academic and social development through creative teaching.
  3. Assess progress and provide feedback to students and parents.
  4. Maintain high standards of behaviour and classroom management.
  5. Work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external professionals.
  6. Ensure pupil safety and well-being, following safeguarding policies.
Person Specification

Essential:

  1. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  2. Experience teaching in KS1, ideally Year 1.
  3. Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  4. Passion for inspiring young learners.

Desirable:

  1. Experience with phonics programs (e.g., Read Write Inc., Jolly Phonics).
  2. Knowledge of differentiation strategies and SEN support.
