Salary: MPS/UPS (Inner London Pay Scale)

Year 1 Teacher - responsibilities

  • Lessons: Develop, plan, and deliver engaging and effective lessons that cater to the diverse learning needs of Year 1 pupils. Ensure that lessons are challenging, interactive, and encourage active learning.
  • Monitoring progress: Regularly assess pupils' progress, both academically and socially, using a range of formative and summative assessments. Provide constructive feedback to help children achieve their full potential.
  • Creating a positive learning environment: Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere where children feel safe, respected, and encouraged to express themselves. Ensure high standards of behaviour and provide pastoral support when needed.
  • Collaboration with colleagues: Work closely with fellow teachers, teaching assistants, and senior leadership to ensure the best outcomes for students. Share resources, ideas, and best practices to enhance the learning experience.
  • Parental engagement: Maintain open lines of communication with parents, keeping them informed about their child's progress and well-being. Participate in parent-teacher meetings and school events to build strong relationships within the school community.
  • Subject Leadership: Depending on experience, you may be given the opportunity to lead a subject area and help shape the curriculum.
  • Professional development: Engage in continuous professional development to stay up-to-date with the latest educational trends and best practices. Attend school-wide training sessions and workshops to further your own teaching practice.

  • UK QTS and experience teaching in Key Stage 1
