Job description

We are seeking a nurturing, enthusiastic and creative Year 1 Teacher to join a Key Stage 1 team. This is a vital stage in children’s education, building on their Early Years experiences and laying strong foundations for future learning. We are looking for someone who can provide a smooth and supportive transition from the EYFS to KS1 while creating an engaging and inclusive classroom environment. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as a Year 1 Teacher:
  1. Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons aligned with the Year 1 curriculum.
  2. Support pupils' transition from play-based learning to more structured classroom routines.
  3. Deliver effective phonics teaching and support early literacy and numeracy.
  4. Monitor, assess and report on pupil progress, adapting teaching to meet individual needs.
  5. Create a positive classroom culture that supports wellbeing, independence and curiosity.
Ideal Year 1 Teacher:
  1. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  2. A strong understanding of the EYFS and Key Stage 1 curriculum.
  3. Excellent communication and behaviour management skills as a Year 1 Teacher.
  4. A warm, inclusive and reflective teaching style.
