Job summary

St Francis C of E Primary School in Falmouth is seeking a Class Teacher (Maternity Cover) to lead Year 1. You will join a caring school community within Kernow Learning, safeguarding and promoting welfare as you deliver engaging lessons.

The role requires QTS or equivalent, a commitment to high standards, and collaboration with staff to support every child’s progress. This fixed-term post runs until January 2028, with potential for collaboration within the Trust.

Qualifications

• Hold QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Inspire children to develop confidence, curiosity and a love of learning.
• Have high expectations for all pupils and a commitment to helping every child achieve their potential.
• Deliver engaging, high-quality teaching that supports strong progress and positive outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high-quality learning experiences that engage and support all pupils.
• Assess, monitor and record pupil progress, using assessment information to inform teaching and learning.
• Create a positive learning environment.
• Adapt teaching to meet the needs of all learners, including pupils with SEND.
• Build positive partnerships with parents, carers and colleagues to support pupil achievement and wellbeing.
• Contribute to curriculum development and the wider life of the school.
• Participate fully in professional development, school events and team collaboration as required.
• Uphold the school's values and fulfil the professional duties set out in the Teachers' Standards.
• Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children and young people.
