Job description

We are looking to appoint a dedicated and creative Year 1/2 Teacher to join a Key Stage 1 team for September 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to teach a mixed-age class and support pupils as they transition from the EYFS into the more structured world of Key Stage 1. The successful candidate will be committed to providing a nurturing and stimulating learning environment that enables all pupils to thrive.

Duties as a Year 1/2 Teacher:

• Plan and deliver high-quality lessons aligned with the KS1 national curriculum

• Meet the diverse needs of a mixed Year 1 and Year 2 class through effective differentiation

• Support pupils’ progress in phonics, early reading, writing, and maths

• Use assessment effectively to inform teaching and track pupil progress

• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes curiosity and independence

• Work collaboratively with KS1 colleagues and engage with parents and carers

Ideal Year 1/2 Teacher:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• Experience teaching in KS1; experience with mixed-age groups is an advantage

• Strong knowledge of the Key Stage 1 curriculum and phonics instruction (e.g. Little Wandle, Read Write Inc.)

• Excellent classroom management and communication skills as a Year 1/2 Teacher.

• A caring, reflective, and proactive approach to teaching
