Job description

We are looking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Year 1/2 Teacher to join a friendly and inclusive school. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a mixed-age Key Stage 1 class, where you’ll help lay the foundations for children’s lifelong love of learning. Starting September 2025.

Duties as a Year 1/2 Teacher:

  • Create a nurturing, stimulating, and well-managed classroom.

  • Plan and teach creative, engaging lessons that meet the needs of all learners.

  • Assess pupil progress accurately and use this to inform next steps.

  • Foster positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.

  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including enrichment activities and whole-school events.

Ideal Year 1/2 Teacher:

  • A qualified teacher (QTS) with experience or a strong interest in Key Stage 1.

  • Knowledge of the KS1 curriculum, phonics (preferably Little Wandle or Read Write Inc.), and assessment for learning.

  • A caring and reflective practitioner who sets high expectations for all.

  • Strong classroom management and the ability to adapt teaching for mixed-age learning as a Year 1/2 Teacher.

  • A collaborative, positive approach and a commitment to every child’s success.
