Job summary

Travis Perkins in Welwyn Garden City is seeking a Yard Assistant to support daily yard operations, help customers, and ensure smooth order processing. You will base outside the branch, loading and unloading stock and assisting with deliveries.

You may handle forklift tasks with full training provided, and you’ll work in a safety‑driven environment with a friendly, customer‑focused approach. The role offers sociable daytime hours and a pathway to development schemes within the group.

Qualifications

• Customer-facing role requiring enthusiasm and strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle heavy and bulky stock safely under health and safety guidelines.
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced yard environment.

Responsibilities

• Process customer orders at the yard and assist with loading/unloading vehicles.
• Unload building products from supplier deliveries and book them into the warehouse.
• Operate or be trained to use forklift equipment; follow safety procedures.
• Maintain a tidy, safe working environment and comply with company standards.

• You will be based outside, processing our customer orders, loading and unloading customer and company vehicles.


• You will also unload our building products from supplier deliveries and accurately book them in the branch warehouse.


• Experience of using a forklift is ideal, but don't worry full training is provided


• Safety is at the forefront of everything we do, your aim will be to ensure that our standards never slip, this means maintaining a tidy and safe working environment

• Be confident in your physical ability to process heavy and bulky stock throughout the Yard, within our health and safety guidelines.
