Job summary

Trant Engineering Ltd. is looking for a Yard Operative to support the Plant and Transport Department in Southampton. You will help manage the yard, move and prepare plant and equipment, and ensure safe, compliant handling of materials on site.

The role requires experience in a yard or engineering setting, a good grasp of health and safety, and the ability to drive vehicles to sites or the MOT centre as needed. A strong team player with practical hands-on skills is ideal.

Qualifications

• Experience in yard, plant or engineering environments is essential.
• Strong awareness of health and safety practices.
• Good understanding of plant machinery and transport equipment.
• Applicants must be legally authorised to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship).

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised yard at all times.
• Assist with preparation of plant and equipment for site deployment.
• Plan plant and equipment logistics and move/secure vehicles within the yard.
• Carry out routine maintenance tasks under guidance and undertake driving duties to site or MOT.
• Follow health and safety procedures and use PPE as required.
