Job summary

FTH Hire Group is one of the UK's leading plant and tool hire companies, with nineteen depots across the South of England, Wales and Scotland. The Yard Person role focuses on the safe, efficient and smooth running of the yard operation.

The position involves maintaining a clean yard, assisting with loading/unloading, washing and jet washing tools, and supporting trade counter staff while upholding high standards of customer service.

Qualifications

• Ideally possess Counterbalance forklift license.
• Knowledge of tool and plant is an advantage.
• Friendly and professional manner.
• Ability to take instruction from senior staff and lead by example.
• High standards of Customer Service.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the yard and warehouse to be clean and swept.
• Pressure wash the wash area and keep mud deposits away.
• Jet wash tools/plant and fill with diesel.
• Assist with loading and unloading vehicles for colleagues, customers and suppliers.
• Support trade counter staff in ferrying hires to and from workshop and yard.
• Ensure safe storage of spares, Hire and Sales Stock.
• Adhere to Health & Safety policies.

Job description

FTH Hire Group is one of the largest and fastest growing independent plant and tool hire companies in the UK, with nineteen depots across the South of England, Wales and Scotland. Our plant hire fleet is replaced every months, ensuring customers are always hiring machines that are modern, efficient, and reliable. At FTH Hire Group we want our wealth of experience to work for our customers and we provide a personal service, backed by detailed technical and safety advice.

The primary responsibility of the Yard Person is to be responsible for the safe efficient and smooth running of the yard operation.

Yardperson duties and responsibilities:

• Ensuring the yard and warehouse is always swept and clean
• Wash area is regularly pressure cleaned and free from mud deposits
• Jet wash the tools/plant as required when returned from being on hire and fill with diesal.
• Helping load and unload vehicles for both colleagues, customers, and suppliers
• Support of trade counter staff in ferrying on and off hires to and from workshop and yard
• Safe storage of spares, Hire and Sales Stock
• Health & Safety
• Must be fit and active as you will be loading and unloading machinery from the van
• To perform a walk around every evening ensuring all keys are removed from plant and any small items of equipment are removed from the yard and secured inside the depot

Other Duties

• Non Mechanical service inspections of Ladders, Steps, staging s, Tower Components, Accrows, Bandstands, Chapter 8 Barriers, Site Fencing, Block Grabs, Plant Attachments etc.
