Job summary

Lawsons is recruiting a Yard Operative at our Whetstone branch to support daily yard operations, stock handling and customer service for trade and retail customers.

You will work in a practical, outdoor environment, operating yard equipment when trained and ensuring safe loading, unloading and stock management in line with health and safety policies.

Competitive salary (£30,175), 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, pension and support for progression within Lawsons; full training provided.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in yard operative, warehouse or builders’ merchants environment (essential).
• Capable of undertaking physically demanding tasks and working outdoors in all weathers.
• Good numeracy and literacy with ability to follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Receive, unload and check deliveries of timber, fencing and building materials.
• Store, stack and organise stock safely for easy retrieval.
• Assist customers at the yard and by phone with product selection and loading.
• Prepare and load customer collections and delivery vehicles; ensure loads are secured.
