Job description

Working as Yard Operative within our Environmental Team, you will assist in the processing of client waste material in accordance with all laws, regulations and industry standards/codes. Key responsibilities of the role include:

•Loading and unloading of vehicles at site, utilising business supplied equipment in a safe and effective manner including diggers, forklift trucks, air tools / pumps.

•Safely handling, processing and preparing for dispatch all hazardous / special waste.

•Processing materials through sorting, bulking and repackaging as directed by the Site Chemist.

•Maintaining re-usable shipping containers through visual inspections, cleaning and re-labelling.

•Ensuring quality of work meets business expectations and customer requirements.

•Accurately completing Company documentation, ensuring information is logged / circulated.

•Maintaining housekeeping standards within the yard and operating areas.

•Continuously promoting a pro-active HSEQ culture, ensuring participation and compliance with meetings, procedures, work instructions, Company initiatives etc.

•Building effective relationships across the business, continually seeking to improve operations and identify cost savings.

Minimum Competencies (Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours)

•Established practical experience within waste management operations.

•Accustomed to working effectively in a fast-paced environment, adapting to changing workloads and priorities, where high standards are not compromised under pressure.

•Ability to work stand-alone, demonstrating initiative and ownership, while team-working.

•A strong communicator, with attention to detail and excellent planning and organising skills.

•Solutions based, motivated to achieve the highest standards of performance, customer support and HSEQ, maintaining a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

•Computer literate with well-developed IT skills across the Microsoft suite.
