Job summary

Bristol Waste Company is seeking a site operative to load, transport and unload waste materials in line with safety and legal requirements. The role includes operating the sort-line, baler, and forklift, plus maintaining equipment cleanliness and relevant paperwork.

Successful candidates will have a full UK driving licence and a counterbalance forklift licence, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team and respond to training needs. Salisbury-like site duties apply.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence and Counterbalance forklift licence are essential.
• Ability to organise and prioritise work and to work independently or as part of a team.
• Able to communicate effectively and use basic computer skills.
• Willingness to work bank holidays and Saturdays and capable of lifting boxes and recyclable materials.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate vehicles and equipment in line with licences, procedures and training.
• Operate the sort-line and baler, minimising downtime and handling waste according to policy.
• Operate a counterbalance forklift and rotator attachment (training provided).
• Operate other machines (balers, plant machinery) with training provided.
• Maintain high standard of site, vehicle and equipment cleanliness and complete required paperwork.

Purpose of the role:

• Duties will include loading,transportingand unloading waste and recycling materialsin accordance withBristol Waste procedures and in line with agreed customer and external legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Driving and operating vehicles and equipment as required by the company andin accordance withthe valid licence, company safety procedures, legalrequirementsand training for that vehicle/equipment.
• Operating the sort-line and baler machine, keeping downtime to a minimum, as well as loading and unloading recycling and waste materialsin accordance withBristol Waste policy, procedures,trainingand legal requirements.
• Operating a counterbalance forklift, with rotator attachment (training will be provided for the rotator attachment).
• Operating other relevant machines - baler, plant machine- training will be provided.
• Maintain the site,vehicleand equipment cleanliness to a high standard, including daily vehicles checks on any vehicle driven. Some paperwork will berequiredwhere the YardOperative must complete, check and return all paperworkrequiredin undertaking these duties, including the monitoring of all yard incidents.

Essential Requirements for the Role:

• It is essential to have a full driving licence valid for use in the UK and a Forklift licence (Counterbalance) qualification.
• Experience or the ability to organise and prioritise their work, working independently, as well as using initiative and as part of a team.
• Able to communicate effectively and appropriately in a range of situations, including basic use of a computer, or willingness to undertake training.
• Given the nature of the role, the successful candidate must finallydemonstratesuitability for work involving lifting of boxes and other recyclable materials as well as be able to work bank holidays and the occasional Saturday
