Job summary

Galliford Try is seeking a hands-on Yard & Workshop Operative in Keighley, West Yorkshire. You will play a key role in the safe operation of our yard and site activities, handling materials, supporting fabrication, and assisting with steelwork installations.

The role offers variety and opportunity to develop skills across multiple areas of the operation. Ideal candidates will have yard/workshop experience, a valid CSCS card, proficiency with drills and cutting machinery, and a strong safety

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a yard, workshop, fabrication or similar industrial environment.
• CSCS Card required.
• Experience using workshop tools and equipment, including drills and cutting machinery.
• Good understanding of health and safety in workshop/construction environments.
• Strong organisation skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and proactive approach to work.
• Physically fit for manual handling and labour-intensive tasks.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and control plant and vehicle movements within the yard.
• Load and unload deliveries safely, store materials securely.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised yard and workshop environment.
• Carry out stock checks and maintain inventory records.
• Prepare materials for fabrication and assembly, including drilling, cutting and dressing.
• Support the fabrication team with workshop tasks and material handling.
• Ensure materials are available and ready for ongoing projects.
• Provide general labour support across workshop and yard.
• Assist site teams with installation of structural steelwork when required.
• Follow all health, safety and quality procedures.

Are you a hands‑on individual who enjoys practical work and takes pride in delivering high‑quality results? We're looking for a Yard & Workshop Operative to join our team in Keighley, playing a key role in the safe and efficient operation of our yard, workshop and site activities.

This is a dynamic role that offers plenty of variety, with responsibilities ranging from material handling and stock control to supporting fabrication activities and assisting with steelwork installations on site. Working closely with experienced colleagues, you'll contribute to the successful delivery of projects while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and teamwork.

What you'll be doing:
