Job summary

The Timber Group in High Wycombe is seeking a Yard Operative to join our branch team, delivering strong customer service and ensuring efficient daily operations. You will report to the Yard Supervisor and Branch Management, handling deliveries, stock, and loading with a focus on safety and accuracy.

We value individuals who are proactive, reliable and team players. A forklift licence is advantageous, and we provide training to help you progress within the business across our network of branches.

Responsibilities

• Receive and check deliveries, highlight anomalies and ensure secure storage.
• Serve customers promptly and efficiently at all times.
• Keep yard/warehouse tidy with clearly identifiable stock and flag low levels.
• Use a forklift to assist with picking and loading company vehicles.
• Help safeguard goods and property by staying security conscious.
• Collaborate with the team to run the branch efficiently and per policy.

As a Yard Operative, you would be working in one of our branches as part of a team where everyone is putting the effort in to offer brilliant customer service and to get the job done. You would report to the Yard Supervisor and the Branch Management Team.

Here’s what you can expect to do as a Yard Operative with The Timber Group:

• Receive and check off deliveries to the branch, highlighting any anomalies and ensuring secure, correct and timely storage of such deliveries in line with health and safety guidelines


• Ensuring that customers are served promptly and efficiently at all times.


• Ensure that the yard and warehouse are kept tidy at all times, that stock is clearly identifiable and low stock levels highlighted to branch management where necessary to make sure certain products are available at all times.


• Using a forklift truck to assist with picking and loading of company vehicles.


• Actively safeguard against theft of goods or company property by being security conscious at all times.


• Work and communicate as a team member to ensure the branch operates efficiently and effectively within company policy.
