Job description

Timber Yard Operative – East Harling, NR16
£12.40 per hour | Overtime £16.53 per hour | Temporary to Permanent | Monday to Friday, 07:30 – 17:00

Gap Personnel, operating as an Employment Business, is currently recruiting Timber Yard Operatives for a reputable client based in East Harling, NR16. Our client is a leading manufacturer of wooden and timber framing products, supplying the housing and construction sectors with high-quality materials.

This role offers a temporary to permanent opportunity, ideal for candidates who are reliable, hardworking, and eager to learn new skills. Candidates must have their own transport or be able to commute reliably, as punctuality and consistent attendance are essential to success in this position.

Role Overview:

As a Timber Yard Operative, you will assist in the building and finishing of wooden structures. You will primarily work outdoors in the yard and within the warehouse, so flexibility and adaptability are important. The company values candidates who are willing to take on various tasks and show a proactive approach.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Cutting wood and timber to specifications and assembling timber frames

  • Operating air-powered tools such as nail guns

  • Loading and feeding timber into machinery safely and efficiently

  • Assisting with compiling orders and providing basic customer service when required

  • Maintaining cleanliness and order through routine housekeeping duties

  • Conducting stock taking and supporting general site operations

  • Moving palletized materials around the site or storage areas using manual handling techniques

Candidate Requirements:

We are looking for fit and active individuals who demonstrate honesty, reliability, and a strong work ethic. Ideal candidates will be conscientious, able to work well under pressure, and self-motivated. Good communication skills are important, as is the ability to work both independently and within a team environment. While previous experience in timber work is beneficial, it is not essential—training will be provided.

Manual handling and the use of various tools will be a daily part of the job, so comfort with physical work is necessary. Basic literacy and numeracy skills are required to carry out everyday tasks efficiently.

Benefits:

  • Competitive pay with overtime available at a higher rate

  • Onsite parking for convenience

  • A supportive work environment and opportunities for long-term employment

How to Apply:

Interested candidates are encouraged to send their CV to or call 01603 767617 for further details.
