Yard Operative

7 Steel UK – Bristol

£30,700, Monday – Friday, 7am - 4pm

From tipping lorries to inspecting Scrap metal you’ll be covering all jobs in the Scrap Yard. One day you’ll be operating the weighbridge and completing maintenance checks, the next you’ll be operating machinery. Health and safety will always be your number one priority, not only for yourself but also for the rest of your team.

You’ll have experience working in a Yard or a similar environment. It’s great if you have existing knowledge of scrap metal but what’s most important is that you’re keen to learn and have the ability to pick up new skills. You will be responsible for operating and driving machinery, including Excavators, 360-degree Material Handlers, and Fork Lifts, so it is ideal if you have operated this type of machinery before.

The Scrap that you’ll process is sent to our Melt Shop where it’s recycled into new steel products – we’re the largest producer of reinforcing steel in the UK and the second largest steel recycler in Europe.
